Information about the SDG Campus at the University of Stuttgart

The SDG Campus is a digital learning platform offering courses related to the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Students from eight partner universities can take part in these courses – one of them being the University of Stuttgart.

As a student, you will gain insights into the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals and learn about technologies that help us move closer to achieving them.

You can take the online courses flexibly – independent of time and place – and, if applicable, have them recognized as an interdisciplinary key qualification (FÜSQ). After successfully completing a course, you automatically receive a certificate of achievement.

All courses are free of charge for students of the University of Stuttgart.

The certificates include detailed information about the course content and learning objectives, making them useful for your application documents.

If you collect several certificates, you may also qualify for an additional certificate (e.g. Certificate of Basic Studies).

Recognition of courses as FÜSQ is possible under certain conditions.

The SDG Campus offers a wide range of courses to students of the University of Stuttgart.

  • Introduction course (1 ECTS), basic courses and advanced courses (each 2 ECTS) are digital, asynchronous self-learning courses.
  • Challenges and Summer Schools (each 3 ECTS) are synchronous group learning formats that take place at fixed dates, either in person or virtually.

At the University of Stuttgart, all SDG Campus courses are assigned to the thematic module 3 “Sustainability and Social Responsibility” within the FÜSQ framework.

This means that all SDG Campus courses cover competence areas 1–5. As a student of the University of Stuttgart, you are free to choose from all SDG Campus courses according to your interests, as long as the course combinations (variants) are respected.

You first check your examination regulations or study plan to see whether you still need to complete an interdisciplinary key qualification and whether competence areas 1, 2, 3, 4, and/or 5 are required.

Note: You should not exceed the required number of FÜSQ ECTS credits.

Afterwards, you create a user account on the SDG Campus platform and select courses based on your interests. Since FÜSQ courses at the University of Stuttgart are always credited with 3 ECTS, the following recognition options are possible:

  • Variant 1: 1x Introduction course (1 ECTS, can only be used once) + 1x a basic or advanced course of your choice (2 ECTS) = one FÜSQ course with the title “Introduction and [title of the chosen course]”.
  • Variant 2: 1x Challenge (3 ECTS) = one FÜSQ course with the title of the Challenge.

Note: Challenges offered by the University of Stuttgart may at the same time also count directly as registered FÜSQ courses.

After successfully completing the courses, you will receive automated certificates. With these, you contact the FÜSQ office at sq@zlw.uni-stuttgart.de. After internal verification, the corresponding ECTS credits will be officially recorded by the FÜSQ office.
